Kylie startet 13-Millionen-Euro-Show
Popsängerin geht erstmals seit ihrer Krebserkrankung auf Europatournee

Berlin/Paris (ddp). Es ist genau drei Jahre her, als im Leben von Popstar Kylie Minogue mit einem Schlag nichts mehr war wie zuvor. Im Mai 2005 wurde bei der australischen Sängerin Brustkrebs diagnostiziert. Ihre "Showgirl"-Tournee musste abgebrochen werden. Minogue unterzog sich erfolgreich einer Chemo- und Strahlentherapie. Im November 2006 holte sie die abgesagten Auftritte in ihrer Heimat Australien nach und gab einige Zusatzkonzerte in Großbritannien. Jetzt aber geht die 1,54 kleine Künstlerin erstmals nach ihrer Genesung mit einer neuen Show auf Europatournee. "Ein Spektakel" verspricht Kylie ihren Fans.

Los geht es am Dienstagabend (6. Mai) in Paris. Am Freitag (9. Mai) gibt Minogue in Stuttgart das erste von insgesamt sechs Konzerten in Deutschland. Die Münchner Fans können ihr drei Wochen später sogar ein Ständchen singen: Einen Tag vor ihrem Auftritt in Bayern feiert Minogue am 28. Mai ihren 40. Geburtstag.

So teuer und aufwendig wie keine ihrer Bühnenshows zuvor soll das neue Programm "KylieX2008" sein. Umgerechnet rund 13 Millionen Euro habe die Produktion gekostet, ist auf der Homepage Minogues zu erfahren. Mehr als eine halbe Million Tickets seien bereits verkauft.

Für ihre Kostüme hat die Stilikone wie schon bei ihrer "Showgirl"-Tournee, bei der sie mit John Galliano und Karl Lagerfeld zusammengearbeitet hatte, erneut einen Stardesigner verpflichtet: Jean Paul Gaultier hat der Sängerin mindestens sieben Kostüme auf den Leib geschneidert. Einmal verwandelt sich Minogue dabei in eine japanische Geisha.

Minogue ist bekannt für perfekt choreografierte Shows, in denen nichts dem Zufall überlassen wird und fast jeder Schritt geplant ist. Auch diesmal wird Kylie auf einer leuchtenden Bühne samt High-Tech-Video-Vorhängen von 14 Tänzern umgeben sein, darunter vier Akrobaten. Sie habe "hart gearbeitet" und sei "sehr aufgeregt" vor der großen Premiere, betonte Minogue vor einigen Tagen.

Wie anstrengend und in ihren Augen zuweilen auch "eintönig" eine solche Tournee für sie aber auch sein kann, wird im Doku-Film "White Diamond" klar, der im vergangenen November veröffentlicht wurde und Kylies Rückkehr auf die Bühne nach der Krebserkrankung zeigt. Darin ist die Sängerin einerseits quietschvergnügt bei den Proben oder überdreht vor Lampenfieber zu sehen, dann aber auch schlecht gelaunt und körperlich und seelisch völlig erschöpft von den Anstrengungen.

Über die Zeit ihrer Krankheit spricht sie nicht gern. "Alles brach zusammen, nicht nur die Tour", erinnerte sie sich im Film an den Moment der Diagnose. Sie habe nicht gewusst, ob sie jemals wieder auf der Bühne würde stehen können. Heute mache sie sich bei ihren Auftritten weniger Sorgen als früher: "Nach allem, was ich durchgemacht habe - es ist eine Show."

In der Talkshow von US-Moderatorin Ellen DeGeneres offenbarte Minogue kürzlich erst, dass bei ihr zunächst eine Fehldiagnose gestellt worden war. Ein Arzt habe ihr vor Start der "Showgirl"-Tour versichert, dass alles in Ordnung sei. "Meine Botschaft an alle lautet: Nur weil jemand einen weißen Kittel trägt und viele Instrumente hat, heißt das nicht, dass er Recht hat", mahnte Minogue. Nach Bekanntwerden ihrer Erkrankung waren die Anmeldungen zur Brustkrebs-Vorsorgeuntersuchung in Australien um 40 Prozent gestiegen.

Musikalisch soll das neue Bühnenprogramm die gesamte, inzwischen bereits 20-jährige Karriere der Australierin widerspiegeln, die 1988 mit den Hits "Locomotion" und "I Should Be So Lucky" startete und Minogue Ende der 90er Jahren zur Discoqueen und zum Sexsymbol aufstiegen ließ. Legendär ist etwa ihr Auftritt in ultrakurzen Hotpants im Video "Spinning Around". Das aktuelle Album "X" kam im November auf den Markt.

Ihrem bevorstehenden 40. Geburtstag sieht Minogue gelassen entgegen: "Für mich ist das keine große Sache." Sie werde mit ein paar Freunden feiern, bevor am nächsten Tagen das nächste Konzert in München anstehe, sagte sie in einem Interview.

Die Tour wird sie durch fast ganz Europa führen sowie in die Türkei und nach Russland. Das letzte Konzert findet am 4. August in London statt. Die deutschen Termine sind: Stuttgart (9. Mai), Frankfurt (10. Mai), Köln (27. Mai), München (29. Mai), Hamburg (7. Juni) und Berlin (22. Juni).

Kylie's pride as she picks up French honour in Paris

Kylie Minogue has been made a knight in the Order of Arts and Letters for her "contribution to the enrichment of French culture" in a glittering ceremony in Paris today.

The singer, who kicks off her X world tour tomorrow night in the capital's Bercy arena, said she was "deeply honoured to be recognised in this way".

Christine Albanel, the French minister of culture and communications, presented Minogue with the green and gold decoration, which she proudly sported afterwards on her black silk dress.

Previously recipients of the 'Chevalier dans L’ordre des Arts et Lettres' honour have included Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan, Meryl Streep, Robert Redford and T. S. Eliot.

Kylie meanwhile has already received a British OBE in the New Year's Honours list and picked up Germany's top showbiz award The Golden Camera in February after being named Best International Music Act.

Kylie Minogue mit französischem Kulturorden geehrt

Paris (AFP) - Die australische Popsängerin Kylie Minogue ist mit dem französischen Kulturorden geehrt worden. Minogue sei nicht nur "Pop-Prinzessin und unbestrittene Dancefloor-Queen", sondern auch "eine Art Midas der internationalen Musikszene", sagte Frankreichs Kulturministerin Christine Albanel, während sie der 39-Jährigen den Orden anheftete. Alles, was die Australierin anfasse, werde zu Gold - "von CDs bis zu Mikroshorts", sagte Albanel in Anspielung auf Minogues berühmte Glitzerhöschen.

Die Sängerin dankte mit einer Liebeserklärung an Frankreich: Sie habe sich bei ihrem ersten Besuch in das Land "verliebt", und diese Liebe blühe "wie ein ewiger Frühling" in ihr.

Minogue war mehrere Jahre mit dem französischen Schauspieler Oliver Martinez zusammen, der ihr auch während ihrer Krebserkrankung beistand. Die Musikerin habe nach der Brustkrebsdiagnose großen Mut bewiesen, indem sie offen über die Krankheit geredet habe, sagte die französische Kulturministerin. Sie habe dazu beigetragen, dass sich nun mehr junge Frauen untersuchen ließen; Ärzte sprächen sogar von einem "Kylie-Effekt".

Minogue und Martinez hatten sich nach ihrer Genesung getrennt, der Klatschpresse zufolge ist das Paar aber wieder versöhnt. Im Internet kursieren bereits Heiratsgerüchte. Die Australierin wollte am Dienstag in Paris ihre Europatournee beginnen - 2006 musste sie eine weltweite Konzerttour wegen ihrer Krebserkrankung absagen. Minogue gehört zu den erfolgreichsten Popsängerinnen weltweit, ihr erstes Album "Locomotion" wurde 14 Millionen Mal verkauft.

Dannii speaks out on cancer heartache

DANNII Minogue has spoken out about the hardship of dealing with sister Kylie's breast cancer and losing her best friend to the disease.

The Melbourne-born singer and TV host, who currently lives in London but is visiting her hometown while filming Australia's Got Talent, has revealed that shortly after her pop star sister recovered, she found herself having to deal with the death of her best friend.

"Kylie was given the all clear and people would come up to me smiling and saying: 'Isn't it great?' and inside I was absolutely dying," Minogue said in an interview with London's Sunday Mirror Magazine.

"I just wanted to yell: 'No, it's not okay. What has this crazy world done? Where is all this coming from? Why?'.

"I wasn't coping with it. I just felt like I was swimming against the tide for so long, first with worry about my sister being ill and for my family, and then that happening."

Minogue, who refused to reveal the identity of her best friend of 10 years, recently took part in a trek along the Great Wall of China to raise funds for fellow Australian Olivia Newton-John's cancer charity.

"Kylie was worried about me coming here alone but it was really important for me," Minogue said from China, where the magazine interview was conducted.

"And it's been so therapeutic, it's like I've come up for air."

On a brighter note, Minogue says she is ready for romance - if she can find a boyfriend willing to put up with her jobs hosting TV shows Australia's Got Talent and the X Factor in London.

"I'd love to meet someone," said Minogue, who split from racing car driver Jacques Villeneuve in 2001.

"I'm moving on from all the bad experiences and my career is going well, so it'd be nice to have someone to complete everything."

But Minogue downplayed rumours she wanted to date British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

"I don't fancy him, no," she said.

"We met at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne and we've been texting each other and said we'd meet up in Monaco for the Grand Prix there. So if that's a date, then we're going on a date."

Belfast-bound Kylie confesses: I'm a flirt and exhibitionist

Belfast-bound pop princess Kylie Minogue has admitted that she is a bit of a exhibitionist and a "natural flirt".

The pint- sized singer - who turns 40 this year - said she wasn't worried about the milestone and that being sexy was nothing to do with age.

And despite her battle with breast cancer, which she overcame, the singer said she had never had to deal with any tragedy in her life.

Kylie, who plays the the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on June 26, 27, 29 and 30, was speaking exclusively to Northern Ireland magazine Fate ahead of the four shows.

The star, who has dated the late Michael Hutchence, James Gooding and Olivier Martinez, said she was looking forward to her big brithday.

"Being sexy has nothing to do with your age - it's just something that's inside you," she said.

"Besides, I know that part of me is a sexual exhibitionist, but I don't think I over-do it. I'm just a natural flirt I guess. A lot of the time I'm like an over-excited puppy. Growing older doesn't bother me though - all the best artists are like fine wines, they get better with age."

On the subject of her iconic image and her appeal to both men and women, Kylie said: "I get called an icon of some sort quite a lot these days and I think it's flattering, but I just see myself as an eight-year-old girl with the dressing up box.

"Anyway, most icons usually have some tragedy in their lives but I've only ever had tragic haircuts."

Kylie, who had to postpone her Showgirls tour in 2005 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, also spoke about the impact the illness had on her life.

"Having had cancer, one important thing to know is that you're still the same person at the end," she said.

"When you're fighting the disease you're stripped down to near zero. What people have to remember is that most people come out the other end feeling more like themselves than ever before and I was one of the lucky ones."

The sexy superstar told Fate she enjoyed working too much to consider giving it up and that she enjoyed pushing herself.

And she promised her Northern Ireland fans a show to remember.

"It's going to be bigger and better than ever," she said. " I've been away for a while but I'm back with my 10th album and I've really missed performing for everyone so I've planned some big surprises.

"I have to say that while my name is the one up there in lights and it's me that has to deliver the goods, it doesn't happen without my team behind me and I'm very grateful for that."

Kylie Minogue is at the Odyssey Arena on June 26, 27, 29 and 30.

Honoured Kylie Minogue 'knighted' by French culture club

Kylie Minogue has been awarded one of France's top high-brow awards for her "contribution to the enrichment of French culture".

Kylie will travel to Paris this weekend to receive the 'Chevalier dans L’ordre des Arts et Lettres' (Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters) from the French Minister of Culture at a ceremony this Monday.

She then opens her new X World Tour the day after in the city.

Kylie is following in the illustrious footsteps of the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan, Meryl Streep, Robert Redford and T. S. Eliot who have all won the award before.

Kylie said: "I am deeply honoured to be recognised in this way. French culture has influenced me greatly and I have always had colossal respect for the arts and people of France".

Kylie will also be celebrating the release of her new single In My Arms on Monday, the third to be taken from her current album X, the Aussie popstrel's 10th.

The battle of the corsets will be unleashed on an unsuspecting French public next week as Her Madgesty goes head to head with Kylie.

While the Aussie beauty launches her X 2008 tour in Paris next Tuesday, Mads will be doing a free gig nearby.

Kylie, who turns 40 this month, had better have something spectacular up her sleeve when she kicks off at the Bercy Arena, as Madge is limbering up for quite a fight.

An insider said: "The pressure's on Kylie to compete with Madge as she draws in crowds for a free gig just across town in the Olympic stadium."

Madge will also launch her assault on the US media this month to promote Hard Candy.

Let's hope it goes better than Kylie's attempt to break the US last month - her album X limped into the charts at No.139.

Welsh singer/songwriter SHAKIN' STEVENS wants to be more like KYLIE MINOGUE - as the Australian pop star has a talent for reinventing her image.
The star, who has scored 34 top 40 hit singles in the U.K. alone throughout his career, is still going strong at 60 and was recently announced as one of the main acts to be playing at British music festival Glastonbury this summer (08).
And although Stevens admits, that like other artists, his image has changed over the years, he wishes he could have been more like Minogue.
He says, "Rod Stewart doesn't wear leotards any more, Elton John has taken off the platforms (shoes) and Tom Jones' trousers are a bit looser.
"I look different and sound different and now it would be nice to show people what I can do in a more contemporary way.
"Look at Kylie. She's changed and adapted but still kept her fans. That's what I want to do."

"KYLIEX2008": THE TIME IS NEAR!

Kylie Minogue returns to her true home - the live stage - when she opens her greatest ever tour KylieX2008 in Paris on May 6th.

The tour will take Kylie through most of Europe and will see her play for the first time in Greece, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Luxembourg, Russia, Latvia and Spain. It will also be her first appearance in Northern Ireland since her first world tour in 1990. The tour ends in London on August 4, the last of a staggering seven nights at the capital's 02 Arena.

Ticket sales for the tour currently stand at over half a million and the show itself has cost a breathtaking 10 million pounds to stage, which makes it the biggest and most expensive show that Kylie has produced to date, easily eclipsing groundbreaking tours like 2002's Fever in ambition and scale.

Kylie's wardrobe for this tour has been exclusively designed by master couturier Jean Paul Gaultier and the show will feature at least 7 costumes just for Kylie, with more visual elements being added daily!

KylieX2008 also sees Kylie perform with a brand new live band including, for the first time, a brass section and a total of 14 dancers, including 4 acrobats.

For the songs, Kylie has drawn on a breadth of material spread over her career but also promises some unheard songs and at least one surprising cover. Songs including those from 'X', Kylie's current studio album, will be performed on a set dominated by huge video screens which will integrate with graphic staging and theatrical lighting to create a new concert experience for the audience. Always celebrated for her incredible breadth of vision on the live stage, this show sees Kylie move further ahead of her contemporaries.

Kylie's new single 'In My Arms' is released on May 5, on the eve of the start of the tour.

Bei Minogue war 2005 Brustkrebs diagnostiziert worden und sie musste daraufhin den Australien-Teil ihrer "Showgirl"-Tour absagen. Ihre Fans Down Under gaben aber nie die Hoffnung auf, dass ihr Idol wieder auf die Bühne zurückkehren werde. Minogue: "Die meisten Australier haben ihre Tickets nicht zurückgegeben und ich dachte, 'Sie haben sie im Kühlschrank oder in einer Ecke der Handtasche. Was machen sie damit?' Das gab mir ein Ziel, um gesund zu werden."

EMI Legal Threats Over eBay Kylie Single

The EMI Group has sent a legal letter to a UK user selling a promotional copy of the soon to be released Kylie single,’ In My Arms’ on eBay

Although most people are aware of the litigious actions of the music business, particularly in the US where they took legal action against their customers, accusing them of copying music, EMI UK seem to be going into overdrive on this one.

This latest clampdown on selling promos on eBay marks a new departure, with the company threatening to "not hesitate to pursue any and all available remedies whether at law or in equity (and including but not limited to damages)," if a number of conditions were not met.

Remember that this is for selling a single on eBay and not shifting suitcases stuffed full of dodgy DVDs! Although the single is a promo, the seller insists that he bought it in a charity shop, reckon that he might be able to make a few bob out of it on eBay seeing as it hadn’t been released yet.

The growing pile of legal corresponence that we’ve seen to date would make you think that EMI are chasing a criminal mastermind rather than a lowly ebay private seller.

The conditions demands he had to confirm to were ...

A. The immediate return of the Promotional Record. You should send the Promotional Record to this office marked for the attention of the Content Protection Department. IT IS IMPERATIVE YOU RETURN AND NOT DESTROY THE ITEM.

B. The immediate return of all and any copies of the Promotional Record made by you or manufactured for you.

C. Your written:-

(i) Undertaking not to further infringe our rights in and to the Promotional Record;

(ii) Undertaking that all commercial activity with respect to the Promotional Record ceased immediately upon receipt of this letter,if not prior thereto, and will not be resumed in the future;

It looks like EMI are going to need an automated system given the number of promos on eBay currently. They might do well to adjust the system clock though as the one we’ve seen had its date to respond shown as 7 May 2007!

Having sought advice from friends on the discussion forums of Urban75, he’s been met with a variety of advice including interesting ideas like "Just change the listing price to 0p and increase the postage," thus avoiding ’selling’ it.

Inspiriert von ihrem neuen Album "X" haben Kylie und ihr Kreativteam eine neue Show entworfen, die sie selbst als "frisch, berauschend und innovativ" beschreibt. Diese neue Show wird ein komplett anderes Konzept als die früheren Kylie-Galas präsentieren, bei denen sie bereits ihre Kreativität mit wegweisender Technik fusionierte und sie so zu einem der am geachteten Livekünstler weltweit werden ließ. Am 9. Mai gastiert die Australierin in der Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart.

Kylie sagt zur Tour: "Ich arbeite an einer Show, die für das Publikum als auch für mich eine neue und aufregende Erfahrung wird. Die vielseitige Mischung der Sounds auf "X" ermöglicht mir eine neue Liveshow zu entwickeln, die frisch, berauschend und innovativ sein wird."

Vom singenden Soap-Star zur international gefeierten Popikone könnte man ihre Karriere umschreiben. Denn die 39-Jährige trat wie schon ihre jüngere Schwester Danielle, genannt Danii, im australischen Fernsehen auf. Der Durchbruch gelang ihr 1986 in der TV-Soap "Nachbarn (Neighbours)" an der Seite von Jason Donovan, mit dem sie damals auch privat liiert war.

1987 sang sie im Rahmen eines Fußball-Benefizspiels den Little-Eva-Hit "The Locomotion". Dies brachte ihr einen Plattenvertrag. Die Covernummer erreichte Platz 1 der australischen Charts und wurde zur erfolgreichsten Single des Jahrzehnts. Das englische Produzententeam Stock Aitken Waterman nahm sich ihrer an und schrieb ihr "I should be so lucky" auf den zierlichen Leib (1988). Ihr erstes Album "Kylie" verkaufte sich weltweit mehr als sieben Millionen Mal. Von der Musikkritik als "singender Wellensittich" bezeichnet, genoss Kylie Minogue die Sympathien vorwiegend jugendlicher Plattenkäufer.

Mit dem dritten Album "Ryhthm of love" (1990) versuchte sie ihr "Mädchen-von-nebenan"-Image abzustreifen, zeigte sich in Videos, auf Fotos und bei Konzerten mehr von ihrer erotischen Seite. Mit den immer freizügeren Auftritten verschreckte sie zwar ihr Teenie-Publikum, machte sich dafür als "Dance Kylie" einen Namen, feierte Erfolge in der Clubszene. Ihr viertes Album "Let‘s get to it" heimste zudem auch das Lob der britischen Musikzeitschriften ein.

Nach der Trennung vom Produzenternteam und deren Label erarbeitete sie sich zunehmend Respekt in Musikerkreisen, was sich jedoch nicht auf die Plattenverkäufe auswirkte. Wendepunkt nach eigener Aussage in ihrer Karriere stellte das Duett "Where the wild roses grow" mit Nick Cave dar (1995). Der französische Fotograf und Musikvideoregisseur St é phane Sednaoui hatte Mitte der 90er großen Einfluss auf ihr künstlerisches Schaffen. Er prägte ihr Image und unterwarf sie visuell einer kompletten Änderung. Sie brachte sich immer mehr selbst ein, entwickelte sich künstlerisch weiter - allerdings mit geringem kommerziellen Erfolg. Ihr Auftritt als Unterwäsche-Model für H&M erreichte mehr Aufmerksamkeit als ihre Musik und Projekte. Weltweite Aufmerksamkeit gelang ihr beim Auftritt bei der Abschlussfeier der Olympischen Sommerspiele 2000 in Sydney. Ein ganz großes internationales Comeback gab es 2001 mit "Can‘t get you out of my head" aus dem achten Album "Fever".

2005 erhielt sie die niederschmetternde Diagnose Brustkrebs. Das durch das Bekanntwerden der Krankheit ausgelöste Medienecho sorgte für ein Ansteigen der Zahl der Brustkrebs-Vorsorgeuntersuchungen in Australien. Minogue selbst wurde 2005 erfolgreich operiert, unterzog sich einer sechsmonatigen Chemotherapie. 2006 zeigte sie sich wieder in der Öffentlichkeit, veröffentlichte ein Kinderbuch, brachte ihr erstes Parfum auf den Markt, arbeitete weiter an eigenen Produktlinien aus dem Lifestyle-Bereich. Den Status der Stil-Ikone festigte die Ausstellung "Kylie - The exhibition", in der ihre Bühnenoutfits und Kostüme zu sehen waren. 2007 folgte das Album "X" und jetzt im Frühjahr die Tour.

She looks like she's just stepped out of a Tokyo tea house.

With her elegant kimono, bird's nest hairstyle and porcelain pale complexion, this lady is classic geisha material.

But underneath the white foundation and heavy eyeliner is Kylie Minogue experimenting with her latest look.

The singer - known for her stunning costume choices - looks breathtaking in a red kimono as she poses as a geisha in a shoot to promote her forthcoming world tour.

The tour begins in Paris on May 6th and will reportedly cost more than £10million to stage.

It includes shows in Greece, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Luxembourg, Russia, Latvia and Spain, and has already taken over half a million in sales.

KylieX2008 is the singer's first major tour since her battle with breast cancer.

It opens in the UK in June at the Belfast Odyssey Arena before moving to Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester ending at the O2 Arena in London.

Meanwhile Kylie is said to have abandoned plans to crack America after her latest attempt failed.

She reportedly told a friend, "I gave it my best shot. I won't try again."

Kylie appeared on numerous US shows to promote her album X including The Today Show, Dancing With The Stars, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Late Late Show.

But despite her attempts the record sold only 6,000 copies and debuted at number 139 on the US Billboard charts.
