Kate CeberanoSOULFUL singer Kate Ceberano is singing the praises of Kylie Minogue.
Minogue fans have been up in arms - bombarding internet feedback sites - against Ceberano after the Melbourne songbird said she did not "see Kylie as a singer" in a weekend interview.
Ceberano, yesterday was standing by her controversial comments, but pointed out she meant Minogue no disrespect.
"It was an honest answer to a question asked," Ceberano said. "It is one I usually refrain from answering because it usually upsets fans.
"When I think of Kylie Minogue, I think superstar, I think megastar, I think multi-millionairess, I think, 'Oh my God, wouldn't any girl want to be her and love to be her'.
"And yet when I think of the singers in the world, she does not come in that category for me. She is in every way an extraordinary performing artist, there is absolutely no doubt about that . . . but I don't think of her as a singer, no."
Ceberano, who performs at the Palms at Crown on November 26 and 27, said her comments where not meant as a criticism of Minogue's talent and that she was surprised by the vitriol expressed by Minogue's fans.
"I think it is really good that Kylie's supporters are as passionate as they are," she said.

LONDON - "Kylie hat sich mit den Chefs abgesprochen und sie könnten nicht zufriedener sein", berichtet ein Insider. "Sie wollten sie schon letztes Jahr unbedingt als Moderatorin, aber sie bereitete sich auf eine Tour vor - das Timing hat nicht gepasst."
Die freudige Nachricht gelangte an die Öffentlichkeit, nachdem Kylie schon einen Gastauftritt mit ihren beiden Co-Moderatoren in der Sketch-Show 'Home and Gordon' hingelegt hatte.
Der Insider weiter: "Die Organisatoren glauben, dass es zwischen Kylie und James sowie Mathew eine großartige Chemie geben wird, die riesig ankommen wird."
Es wird das erste Mal sein, dass der Glamour-Event drei Moderatoren hat. Und es ist auch eine Premierel, dass die weibliche Moderatorin zuvor schon einen Preis für ihren Gesang erhalten hat.
Im Gespräch für die Veranstaltung waren auch die Rüpel-Comedian Russel Brand und Jonathan Ross. Erst neulich sorgten sie für eine Kontroverse, als sie während ihrer Radiosendung eine geschmacklose Nachricht auf der Mailbox von Schauspieler Andrew Sachs ('Fawlty Towers') hinterließen.
Es wird erwartet, dass die Pet Shop Boys bei der Award-Show einen Preis für ihr Lebenswerk erhalten.
Im vergangenen Jahr moderierte die Osbournes mit Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly und Jack die Show.

Kylie MinoguePop princess Kylie Minogue has been chosen to host the next dazzling Brit Awards.
Kylie, 40, will present the show next February-a year after she won as Best International Female Solo Artist gong at the top music event.
The Spinning Around singer will be joined on stage at London's Earls Court by Gavin And Stacey comedy stars James Corden and Matt Horne, both 30.
A source said last night: "The organisers think Kylie will have great chemistry with James and Matt and go down a storm.
"Kylie is a superstar and greatly respected in the music industry. It's hoped that the 2009 awards will be among the best ever."
Sharon Osbourne and rocker hubby Ozzy hosted the 2008 event.
A year earlier host Russell Brand caused 300 viewers to complain to ITV, which airs the show live, by referring to "a pyrotechnics show which puts the Twin Towers to shame."

Der Schauspieler und Sänger gab seiner langjährigen Lebensgefährtin Angela Mallock bereits vor einigen Monaten auf Bali das Ja-Wort. Eine große Zeremonie im Januar soll die Eheschließung nun abrunden und perfekt machen. Kylie werde an diesem Tag aber nicht mit von der Partie sein, so Donovan gegenüber der britischen Zeitung “The Sun”. Der Grund: Sie stehen sich nicht mehr wirklich nahe. Donovan dazu wörtlich: “Kylie befindet sich in meinem Bekanntenkreis, aber wir sind nicht wirklich Freunde. Sie ist jemand, den ich bewundere und repektiere und wir werden immer auf eine gewisse Art miteinander verbunden sein.”
Kylie Minogue und Jason Donovan galten in den 80er Jahren als absolutes Traumpaar. Doch die Sängerin trennte sich wegen der Karriere von ihm.

Kylie Minogue / JuanesSanto Domingo.– Kylie Minogue loves Juanes song La Camisa Negra so much that to the surprise of everyone in Bogota, she sang a portion of the song on stage as part of the Latin American leg of her tour.
Meanwhile in Santo Domingo, Colombian singer Juanes rocked a 9,000-people crowd Saturday night with his concert "La Vida . . . Es Un Ratico" (Life . . . Is a Moment).
He sang for almost two hours and put the entire arena to sing and dance. Juanes was more powerful, more mature and more charismatic than he's ever been.

singer, but considers her more a performing artist.SASSY vocalist Kate Ceberano says she does not rate Kylie Minogue as a singer. "I don't see Kylie as a singer," Ceberano said.
"I see her as a performing artist. It doesn't make me like her music any less.
"But there are singer's singers. And there are performing artists.
"Christina Aguilera can sing the pants off the sky. Amy Winehouse can sing. Gabriella Cilmi is a singer.
"But I never, ever thought Kylie was a singer. I'm sorry if that offends."
Ceberano's comments come as she celebrates 25 years as a singer.
She has sold more than one million records locally.
Minogue, once dubbed the "Singing Budgie", made her music debut in 1987. She is a Grammy winner with 40 million record sales worldwide.
But Ceberano insists her assessment of is not bitterness.
"That's ridiculous - in print, it reads badly. But I think an artist should be able to deem another artist and put them in a certain category," she said.
"When you go to an art gallery and see a painting on the wall, you either like it, or you don't like it. It's your right to say and not be chastised.
"And you know what? I would be lacking in integrity and honesty if I only said what people want to hear. I need to be honest.
"Kylie - I don't like her voice."

Unter anderem haben sich die Chemical Brothers und Mylo an die Neuverwurstung ihrer Songs gemacht. Die Veröffentlichung von "Boombox" ist für Anfang Januar 2009 geplant.
In den letzten acht Jahren veröffentlichte Kylie vier Alben. Das letzte trug den schlichten Namen "X".

make their marriage officialThe former Neighbours pin-up, who scored No.1 hit Especially For You with then-girlfriend Kylie in 1988, exchanged vows with long term partner Angela Mallock in a small bash in Bali five months ago - however says Kylie will not be there when they make it official in a larger ceremony in London in January.
Jason said: “Angela and I are married but it's not really official. It soon will be though.”

“Kylie and I are acquaintances but not really friends. I know that is not what people want to hear but I've not seen her since we recorded the Kylie 40th birthday special. She is someone I admire and respect and we'll always be joined together in a special way.”
Former pop heartthrob Jason is currently preparing for a chart comeback – his first new material in fifteen years – with new album Let It Be Me.
And he reveals that his well publicised brush with drugs and booze has made him stronger.
Jason said: “I'm healthy and happy with the guy I see in the mirror now. I think my former wild crazy times have made my voice richer, darker and a moodier.”

DANNII Minogue WILL be back for the next series of X Factor — despite her feuding with all the other judges.
New contract ... Dannii MinogueThe star is regularly snubbed by Simon Cowell on the talent hit, while Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole also appear to freeze her out.
But yesterday the 37-year-old told TV Biz that Simon, 49, has already offered her a contract for a third year on the series.
And she dismissed rumours she was so fed up with being overshadowed by new judge Cheryl Cole, 25, that she wanted to quit.
Dannii said: “There have been lots of media reports that I’m not returning but I’m being told by the producers and by Simon that I am coming back next year and I would love to.”
Simon has tried to stir up the rivalry between his new favourite Cheryl and Dannii by claiming the pair were “not about to have dinner any time soon”.
But the Aussie former singer admitted she hates spending time with ANY of the other panellists on the ITV1 show.
She said: “I don’t socialise with the other judges outside of the show. The show is a big media thing from start to finish. As a judge you get caught in the middle of this kind of reality TV.”
Dannii, who is mentoring the over 25s, has even clashed with her own acts this year.
Her relationship with ex-drug addict Rachel Hylton has been especially strained — with Rachel, 26, blaming her boss for landing her in the bottom two. However yesterday Dannii leapt to Rachel’s defence.
She said: “It’s challenging for her in so many different ways. I think that she’s someone that it takes some time to really get to the core of.
“But she has been honest and she has let her guard down and she has let that real Rachel shine through.”
However Dannii could not resist another pop at Simon and Louis, 56. They both have just one act left, while Dannii and Cheryl have three apiece.
She laughed: “Boo hoo, poor boys. Simon doesn’t like losing. That’s got to be difficult for him.”
The ex-Home and Away actress also revealed she is still smarting over Cowell pretending to forget the names of her acts. She raged: “He said he was jet-lagged — but I don’t remember him leaving the country.”
And she vowed to get her own back by winning the show for a second time. She warned: “I take it seriously — I’m giving a million per cent.”

Kylie's first ever concert performance in South America on Saturday evening dazzled fans and critics alike. 8,000 fans packed the Parque Jaime Duque in Bogota Colombia as Kylie took to the stage and officially kick-started the second leg of her already phenomenally successful KYLIEX2008 World Tour.
The two hour show boasted new costumes - including a striking new outfit for opening number 'Speakerphone' and pink cheerleader attire for the Cheer Squad section - and featured an eclectic mix of Kylie classics and songs from X, the setlist differing slightly from the European leg of the tour earlier this year.
Kylie showed off her linguistic skills to full effect, treating the audience to a cover of Colombian superstar Juanes' international hit 'La Camisa Negra', and reciting the French call to the dancefloor during 'Your Disco Needs You' in Spanish!

"Last year it was all about 'me and Sharon' and this year is just 'have a pop at Dannii'," Dannii tells More magazine.
"If I let myself get upset about it I'd probably have jumped off a cliff a long time ago... 99% of what's written in the tabloid gossip pages about me is made up."
Meanwhile, Dannii caught the attention of model Paul Sculfor at the launch of the Westfield shopping centre in London, Daily Mail reports.
The 37-year-old went for rock chick casual in a retro t-shirt, black skinny jeans and high heeled boots.

Dannii MinogueSHE left Sharon Osbourne in her wake and has been caught up in a reported rivalry with replacement judge Cheryl Cole for months. Now Dannii Minogue is rumoured to be getting the axe from the X Factor.
A regular player in the gossip games of the British press, the singer is at the centre of fresh claims from a supposedly "impeccable" source purporting that "she no longer serves a purpose" on the talent quest show.
Though she won the competition last year during her first season with artist Leon Jackson, the source said the Aussie expat shouldn't expect a call back for the next season.
Owing to the "meteoric" rise in popularity of Girls Aloud singer Cole, insiders say Minogue will be shafted for a "younger male judge".
"Dannii was brought in to initially be the younger counterpart to Sharon, but since Cheryl Cole arrived, she has replaced Dannii in that role and became much more popular," the source told Heat magazine.
Minogue recently said she was "bemused" over talk of a rift with fellow panel member and loudmouth Simon Cowell, who has admitted to being scathing towards the team she mentors.
The news comes at a bad time for Minogue, who was this week "fired" by feisty contestant Rachel Hylton, who said her X Factor adviser's choice of songs were failing her.
The former drug addict will be the first finalist in the show's history to compete without the aid of a judge, and Minogue confirmed she struggled to build a working relationship with the mum-of-five.
"I've always seen her as a soul singer, but she wanted to be a rock star, and as a result we've often disagreed," she said.

Der Langfinger stahl das Gepäck der Sängerin kurz vor dem Auftakt ihrer Lateinamerika Tour im kolumbianischen Bogotá, als die Crew Bühnentests durchführte. Die Koffer beinhalteten Bühnenoutfits der glamourösen Diva sowie Pässe, Laptops und Kameras. Kylie setzt in dem von Kriminalität geprägten Land auf hohe Sicherheitsmaßnahmen. Sie wird bei ihrem Aufenthalt in einem kugelsicheren Auto und mit 15 bewaffneten Beschützern reisen.
Auch hatte die Chanteuse von '2Hearts' vor kurzem verlautbaren lassen, dass sie wahrscheinlich eine Pause von den anstrengenden Tourneen nehmen wird, um sich mehr auf ihre Schauspielkarriere zu konzentrieren. In einem Interview ließ sie die Welt wissen: "Ich fange an zu denken, dass Schauspielerei gut wäre, ich würde wirklich gerne in einer Komödie auftreten. Ich habe ein paar kleine Sachen hier und da als Gast für Komödien gedreht, und es geliebt. Es ist so lustig. Royal treatment for Kylie in Argentina after tour woes

Kylie MinogueFirst some thieves in Colombia swiped computers and passports from her entourage. Then Kylie Minogue’s flight crew accidentally landed her in the wrong place in Venezuela.
After such a bad start to the pop princess’s Latin American tour, Argentina is taking no chances, promising her security and attention befitting of royalty.
“We have always taken security very seriously for artists such as Lenny Kravitz, the world’s best footballers, and even the King of Spain. For Kylie Minogue it will be no different,” Argentinian event organiser Marisol Koren of Fenix Entertainment Group said.
“We have elaborate plans in place to make sure Kylie’s stay is safe, pleasurable and that the show is a success.”
Koren said Kylie’s one-off show at the GEBA Club in Buenos Aires on November 15 was selling out fast.
“It doesn’t get much bigger than Kylie Minogue,” she said. “People love her here.”
The Argentinian media has cheekily suggested Kylie is in search of a Latin lover after she revealed on Argentinian television that she was single and open to “a few drinks” with a new man.
“Kylie has not ruled out the possibility of taking home a souvenir from these latitudes,” ventured the popular online daily Infobae.
Kylie must be hoping the Argentinian leg goes better than the ones that went before it.
A few days ago, brazen thieves swiped computers, cameras and passports from her support crew as they carried out pre-show tests in Colombia.
And then her flight to the Venezuelan capital Caracas was diverted 150km away to Valencia, reportedly due to a bungle by the crew.
The mix up left hundreds of fans who had gathered at Caracas International Airport in limbo. Many had come bearing gifts such as Venezuelan rum and tulips, Minogue’s favourite flower.
The error also forced the petite songstress to cancel a scheduled media conference but despite the botched arrival Kylie fever continues to grip Venezuela, where she was to perform today (AEDT).
The social networking site Facebook boasts 15 Venezuelan-based fan groups dedicated to the star.
And last night tickets for her concert at the Caracas Poliedro were as rare as hens’ teeth.
Next stop will be Peru, and then on to Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
