KYLIE ENDS AN AMAZING YEAR WITH AN O.B.E. AND DUET WITH SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY!
31.12.2007
Kylie has every reason to have a smile on her face as she ends the year with an OBE for "services to music", and a request from Sir Paul McCartney to duet with him on Hootenanny on New Year's Eve on BBC TV!
And, if that wasn't enough, her constantly expanding KylieX2008 tour is selling out as soon as the extra dates are being announced. The latest addition to the tour is two dates in Russia.
Kylie said of her inclusion on the New Year's Honours list: "I am almost as surprised as I am honoured to be awarded an OBE by her Majesty the Queen. I feel deeply touched to be acknowledged by the U.K., my adopted home, in this way. This last year I felt so much love and support from everyone as I took greater steps back into the public domain and it is with absolute gratitude and joy that I say farewell to 2007 and look forward to what the New Year will bring."
Kylie.com would like to take this opportunity to wish all our visitors a very happy 2008!

Verdienstorden
30.12.2007

Queen honours our Kylie

30.12.2007
AUSTRALIA'S favourite pop princess, Kylie Minogue, has been awarded an OBE from the Queen.
Survivors... Michael Parkinson, now a knight, and Kylie Minogue, who has received an OBE, on his hit former talk show. Photo: APThe 39-year-old singer, who is spending Christmas holidays in Melbourne with her family, said she was "deeply touched" to be honoured for her services to music by the country she calls her adopted home.
Another star with strong Australian links, chat show host Michael Parkinson, was knighted for services to broadcasting.
Speaking in Sydney, the cricket tragic - who visits every year to see his family and take in a Test match, Sir Michael said his knighthood was a "wonderful surprise".
He said his grandson asked him if he would now receive a suit of armour.
Minogue thanked her British fans for their love and support during her recent recovery from breast cancer.
"I am almost as surprised as I am honoured to be awarded an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen," she said. "I feel deeply touched to be acknowledged by the UK, my adopted home, in this way.
"This last year I have felt so much love and support from everyone as I took greater steps back into the public domain, and it is with absolute gratitude and joy that I say farewell to 2007 and look forward to what the new year will bring."
Melbourne-born Minogue's OBE seals her reputation as one of pop's most enduring icons. It comes nearly 20 years after I Should Be So Lucky became the singer's first British No.1.
The Australian soap Neighbours made her an international star and millions watched her on-screen wedding to co-star and real-life lover, Jason Donovan. Minogue quit the show in 1988 to focus on her music career.
The singer had a string of hits with producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman and sold 14million copies of her debut album, Kylie.
After a quiet period, she regained her chart status in 2000, thanks in part to a tiny pair of gold hotpants. Minogue showed off her derriere in the video for Spinning Around. The song became her fifth British No.1.
She shocked fans in 2005 by announcing she had been diagnosed with breast cancer midway through her Showgirl tour. After a year of treatment, she resumed the tour with a series of triumphant shows.
She has made a return to the limelight with the release of a new album, X.
Sir Michael's honour comes just weeks after he retired from his show with a special featuring some of his favourite guests - Sir Michael Caine, David Beckham, Sir David Attenborough, Billy Connolly, Dame Judi Dench and Dame Edna Everage.
The 72-year-old, who launched his chat show more than 30 years ago, said: "I feel very chuffed... I'm greatly honoured - it's such a wonderful surprise. I never expected to be knighted - I thought there was more chance of me turning into a Martian, really."
He said his wife Mary was looking forward to going back to Buckingham Palace eight years after he was awarded a CBE.
The couple are relaxing in Australia, where they go every year to see some of their grandchildren.
At its peak, Parkinson's show drew up to 12million viewers and a guest list ranging from filmmaker Orson Welles to boxer Muhammad Ali.

The Diamond year of Kylie
By Louise Cadell
27.12.2007
Kylie Minogue can officially
dub 2007 the year of triumph. What a difference a year makes. Fresh from the shadows of cancer, pop star Kylie Minogue can officially dub this past year the year of triumph. As Britney became the proverbial car wreck that no one could stop staring at and Madonna struggled through a tricky and depressingly showy adoption, Kylie soldiered on. With the new year fast approaching, let's take a moment to reminisce and linger on all things Kylie-related in 2007.
While the whole of 2007 can be described as one giant comeback tour, the beginning of the year for Kylie started with an official one. And not just a comeback tour, the comeback tour; a re-worked, funner and lighter version of the Showgirl tour Minogue started before she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. On top of this, Ms Minogue managed to record a new album, launch a perfume and stay adorable in the eyes of her fans and the public alike.
Not everything went smoothly in Kylie-land though and in February the pint-sized pin-up broke up with her French actor boyfriend Oliver 'Oli' Martinez, amid speculation of infidelity on Martinez's behalf (an accusation that only elevated the diminutive pop star higher in the gracious celebrity stakes).
As the original pop princess, Kylie Minogue is used to comebacks and image re-styling and it is exactly this break-up, combined with her recovery from cancer, that prompted a re-working of the old fashioned kind. Not afraid of a challenge, Minogue washed that man right out of her pixie-cropped hair and led the revolution - in hair styles that is. The more her hair grew, the more her hairstyles changed, reflecting not just a woman who relished in a trip to the hairdressers, but a woman whose hair literally defined the term change.
When we didn't see her papped in fabulous dresses on the red carpet, sitting playfully on Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld's lap, cozying up to that funny little Scissor Sisters singer or dutifully attending post-cancer check-ups in France, Minogue was as busy as a bee.
In August Kylie went down the all-too-familiar celebrity route of releasing her own perfume. True to style, it is a fun and flirty Chypre-Floriental fragrance, aptly named Darling. Late November saw the release of Minogue's new album X and Kylie also managed to fit in filming for the Doctor Who Christmas Special, making her very much the darling to adoring fans.
Though she's arguably been through more highs and lows than Britney Spears has fast-food drive-throughs, nothing seems to have gotten the consistently sunny and smiley "singing budgie" down. No more is this obvious than in her new fly-on-the-wall film documentary White Diamond.
Filmed between August 2006 and March 2007, the documentary gives the audience an insight into the real Kylie Minogue and something a little more personal to those who have listened to the records, watched the film clips and read the tabloid gossip. It's a fitting end to a massive year and if you cannot wait until Christmas to see Kylie on screen then White Diamond is for you. Getting past the smiley facade and knowing the real Kylie? We should be lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky...

KYLIE MINOGUE akzeptiert Kinderlosigkeit

'It’s great to see Kylie back to her old self'
by Sally Williams, Western Mail
26.12.2007KYLIE MINOGUE’S family have spoken of their joy at her resurgence over the past 12 months - but have revealed they are not keen on her new Marilyn Monroe look.
The Australian singer’s comeback single, 2 Hearts, stormed into the top 10 of the charts, as did her new album, X, while her appearance in yesterday’s Doctor Who Christmas special guaranteed her a central position in the festive television schedules.
Ron Riddiford, Kylie’s great-uncle, who lives in Maesteg, told the Western Mail he was pleased that Kylie is "back to her old, lovely self" and filming again.
But he said he prefers her natural look, as opposed to the Marilyn Monroe gear she sports in the video for 2 Hearts.
Mr Riddiford, 75, brother of Kylie’s grandmother Millie, said, "I don’t think much of the new images really; I prefer Kylie. "And Doctor Who isn’t really my cup of tea but it is nice to see her getting on well."
Kylie spent some time filming in Swansea, where she was making the show with star David Tennant, shooting several scenes outside the Exchange Buildings in Adelaide Street last summer.
But, instead of the Marilyn look, that time she was dressed in stockings and knee-length high-heeled boots for her role as a maid on the doomed Titanic in the Christmas episode Voyage of the Damned, which featured a much-pictured kiss between her and the Doctor.
Mr Riddiford said, "We hear all about her progress from her mother Carol, who came back to see us in Maesteg several weeks ago.
"We met her in the old house, and we all had a family meal and spent the afternoon together.
"She told us Kylie was working hard and she is looking good and sounding great.
"It is a good few years since Kylie came to see us.
"But when Kylie is in Wales she also likes to go up to Blaenau Ffestiniog in North Wales, where she has family too."
Dennis Riddiford, also Kylie’s great-uncle, who lives near Port Talbot, fondly remembers the days when Kylie would visit and go for a walk in the local woods with him, grandmother Millie and the family.
He realises that Kylie travels a lot with her hectic celebrity lifestyle and he was pleased to have caught up with her in Australia a few years ago.
He said, "I travelled up to Manchester hoping to see her again in concert [in May 2005] and to see her sister Dannii too; they are so similar.
"But Kylie was taken ill on the day I went, shortly before she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I couldn’t see her.
"The cancer was a horrible shock, I was terribly worried but, touch wood, she has got over it and is fighting fit again."
Kylie received huge public sympathy after her breast cancer was diagnosed, and there was enormous interest in her plight as she underwent treatment.
She was operated on in an Australian hospital on May 21, 2005, before completing her course of chemotherapy in a private hospital in Paris.
She was eventually given the all-clear in January 2006, and in the past 12 months has returned to public life, while remaining a high-profile advocate for cancer screening and support groups
Mr Riddiford said he had kept up to date on Kylie’s progress through her traumatic time by keeping in regular contact with her mother.
"I’m partially blind so I don’t tend to get the newspapers and magazines," he said.
"But I spoke to Kylie’s mother Carol the other day, who said she’s keeping fine.
"And I’m hoping to get a Christmas card off Kylie again this year, like I did last year."

The sexy star announced her love for the Scottish singer on her specially recorded Christmas Day show for the listeners of Real Radio.

Halfway through the show Kylie told her audience she had a surprise for them before playing Paolo's 2006 top 10 hit Last Request.

Their duet marks the climax of a year in which both stars have endured a troubled personal life.
