The film's lead character George Weygate, a kind family man, meets a young woman while driving home from work, the girl ( Kylie Minogue ) suggests she is suffering from a diabetic seizure & demands him to take her to a block of flats as soon as possible to fictional Walker Street, in Sydney's Darlinghurst. Weygate, realizing that she left her belongs in the back of his car, goes after her to return them to her. After finding her apartment, he realizes that he has been mysteriously being locked in. In an effort to escape he begins to scale the building. A neighbour tries to stop his escape, but is unsuccessful. He later discovers the girl slumped on the floor in the building's elevator. Bio-Dome (1996)
Release: January 12, 2004
Starring: Stephen Baldwin | Pauly Shore | Kylie Minogue | William Atherton | Scott Baldwin
Director: Jason Bloom
Studio: MGM Entertainment
Run time: 91 mins
Genres: ComedyFrom the producers of DUMB & DUMBER comes this 'no-brainer' eco-trip. Slackers Bud and Doyle (Stephen Baldwin and Pauly Shore) happen upon the opening ceremonies for the BIO-DOME, an environmental facility which is controlled by five scientists, who will be hermetically sealed in it for a year. But before you can say "dumb and dumber," the two dimwits, mistaking the Bio-Dome for a shopping mall, end up trapped inside with the researchers. Cut off from TV and fast food, Bud and Doyle act like bulls in a china shop, creating havoc every step of the way, annoying their brainy co-habitees with crass humour and wild, destructive antics. Can the Bio-Dome project be saved before Bud and Doyle completely demolish it.
Excruciatingly awful comedy about a couple of crude, lewd and generally nauseating brothers (Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin) who accidentally gatecrash a year-long science bio-dome experiment. Naturally, they trash the place. The film aims for a goofy Wayne's World type vibe, but the brain-dead brothers' juvenile antics grate like nails scraping down a blackboard and the plotting is an insult - the boys invite hundreds of revellers to a dome party, yet nobody tries to stop them! Even the expected last-minute change of heart rings hollow. The delightful Joey Lauren Adams (of Chasing Amy fame) as Shore's girlfriend is the film's minor virtue.
Diana & Me (1997)
Release Date Australia: 1997
Starring: Toni Collette | Dominic West | Malcolm Kennard | Victoria Eagger | John Simm | Kylie Minogue
Director: David Parker
Studio: Australian Film Finance Corporation
Run time: 97 mins
Genres: Romantic ComedyThis Australian romantic comedy, filmed prior to the death of Princess Diana, was updated with additional scenes shot several months later. Even so, certain situations originally intended as comedy now seem prophetic and painful rather than humorous. After a grim London opening sequence with a voiceover acknowledging the royal Diana's death, the story flashes back 18 months to Wollongong, Australia, where independent Aussie Diana Spencer (Toni Collette), who entered a women's magazine competition, learns she has won a trip for two to meet the Princess of Wales. Spencer is fascinated by Princess Diana, since she shares both the same name and birthday (although she's 10 years younger). Joined by fiancé Mark Fraser (Malcolm Kennard), Spencer arrives in London, where the magazine's British representative Carol (Victoria Eagger) checks them into a hotel. She's then disappointed to find that her meeting with the Princess is not one-on-one but just an invitation to a garden party attended by hundreds. Problems arise when Mark is separated from Diana, who gets arrested along with British photographer Rob Naylor (Dominic West), part of the paparazzi pack stalking the Princess. (In one scene, paparazzi depart in a frenetic feeding frenzy to get pics of a celebrity in a car crash!). Carol makes a play for Mark back at the hotel room. Rob gets a tip on the whereabouts of the Princess, and Diana joins Rob in his stakeout of an apartment. After the Princess emerges and her car drives off, photographer Rob is in hot pursuit during a chase sequence. Mark decides to return to Australia, while Rob and Diana are joined by cross-dresser Neville (Tom Hillier), a look-alike for Princess Di. The trio takes off for Elton John's birthday party, where the Princess is scheduled to show. Attending the party are Bob Geldof, Jerry Hall, and Susannah York. One sequence in this film captures vocalist Kylie Minogue attempting to walk down a street while stalkarazzi keep pace; uniformed chauffeurs in another scene share a few drinks while awaiting passengers. The Sydney airport substitutes for London's Heathrow. Scenes later added to the controversial movie show Spencer in mourning outside Kensington Palace with an accompanying voiceover by Collette.

Genres: FeaturesDubbed an Australian Pulp Fiction for the rave generation, this slick, achingly-cool crime drama is set in seedy Sydney neighborhoods not likely found in the glossy pages of summer Olympic tourist brochures. TT (David Field), a violent and very wealthy drug lord, is betrayed by his mistress Jess (pop-sensation Kylie Minogue) and her beau Andy (Simon Lyndon), who plan on robbing him of cash and dope. Unfortunately, TT is hip to their scheming. Meanwhile, rock musician Sem (Joel Edgerton) has a vision that his girlfriend Cleo (Paula Arundell) is in peril. Sem wants to start a new life with her far away from the city, but his plans are hampered by the weirdly-epicene John (Ben Mendelsohn) who leads them astray. At the same time, Len (Nathan Page), who works a thankless job at a falafel stand, pines for the fetching young lass DJ Lush Puppy (Nathalie Roy). Finally, there's Joey (Justin Rosniak), a rather thick kid who thinks that he's a gangbanger straight outta Compton. His friend Gus (Matthew Wilkinson) realizes that his buddy has a gun and is dumb enough to use it.

DVD Release Date Australia: 2000-12-22
Starring: Molly Ringwald | Simon Bossell | Jessica Napier | Sarah Kants | Kylie Minogue | Geoff Revell
Director: Kimble Rendall
Studio: Pioneer LDC
Run time: 80 mins
Genres: Horror/Slasher FilmMolly Ringwald stars in this Australian Scream-like horror flick that lodges a tongue in the cheek as much as a knife in the gut. The film opens in 1988 when director Hilary Jacobs (Australian uber-icon Kylie Minogue) is working on a slasher movie called "Hot Blooded" starring plucky American icon Vanessa Turnbull (Ringwald) as a teen who is being chased by a psycho with a mask and some wicked cutlery. After the climactic scene is shot, Jacobs shouts "Cut!" and then harangues the actor playing the killer. That night, the actor stabs the director and almost offs Turnbull. The film is never completed, and when a male director who takes over the project ends up dead too, "Hot Blooded" achieves a hallowed status in student film legend. Fast forward to the present -- Jacobs' assistant director Lossman (Geoff Revell) teaches at a film school and tells his favorite students -- Raffy Carruthers (Jessica Napier) and Hester Ryan (Sarah Kants) -- of his experiences on the doomed set. Raffy, who is itching to be the next Jane Campion, sets out to finish the notorious flick. She enlists Hester as a producer, assembles a crew of fellow students and manages to get Vanessa Turnbull, who hasn't worked much lately, to revisit her role as the film's main character. Of course, as soon as shooting commences, the killing begins anew.
Cast:
Molly Ringwald - Vanessa Turnbull/Chloe
Jessica Napier - Raffy Carruthers
Kylie Minogue - Hilary Jacobs
Simon Bossell - Bobby Doog
Frank Roberts - Scarman/Brad
Stephen Curry - Rick

Moulin Rouge (2001)
DVD Release Date: 2002-04-03 / 2003-08-19
Starring: Ewan McGregor | Nicole Kidman | Kylie Minogue | Richard Roxburgh | David Wenham | Baz Luhrmann
Director: Baz Luhrmann
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Run time: 122 mins
Genres: Music/Musical/DramaCross LA BOHEME with CABARET, throw in a little bit of RENT, and you might almost begin to describe Baz Luhrmann's visually opulent, fast-paced, funny, heartrending MOULIN ROUGE. The film, which premiered as the opener to the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, is a musical set in 1899 Paris at the notorious Montmartre cabaret club, the Moulin Rouge. Directed by Baz Luhrmann (WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO AND JULIET, STRICTLY BALLROOM), the movie stars Nicole Kidman as the high-kicking courtesan, Satine; Ewan McGregor as the sensitive poet, Christian; and John Leguizamo as the flamboyant artist and matchmaker, Toulouse-Lautrec. Luhrmann's use of eclectic lighting and saturated color, the fast zooms and quick cuts of his camera, and his magnificent costumes and sets perfectly capture the excess and freneticism for which the Moulin Rouge was famous. Beautifully led by McGregor and Kidman, the flawless supporting cast brings to life the culture of belle epoque Paris with magical realism. Above all, the anachronistic, energetic contemporary soundtrack is what drives MOULIN ROUGE, with popular songs by L'il Kim, Christina Aguilera, David Bowie, and Beck--as well as Kidman and McGregor adding their own superb vocals.
Doogal (2005/2006) (Also Known As The Magic Roundabout)
Released: July 18, 2005
Theatrical Release: February 24, 2006Starring/Voice: Robbie Williams | Kylie Minogue | Joanna Lumley | Bill Nighy | Ian McKellen | Tom Baker | Jim Broadbent | Ray Winstone
Director: Dave Borthwick
Studio: Pathe Distribution
Run time: 78 mins / 85 mins
Genres: Children | FamilyThe world is placed in mortal danger when Dougal accidentally releases Zeebad from prison. Together with Ermintrude, Brian and Dylan, Dougal sets off on a quest to discover three magic diamonds, and thus prevent the evil Zeebad from encasing the world in ice...
The much-loved children's TV classic is re-imagined for 21st-century youngsters in this attractive computer-animated adventure. Using the original characters as a springboard, the film broadens and updates their escapades to satisfy contemporary tastes. The result is a colourful tribute to the eccentric 1960s show, in which Dougal the dog inadvertently releases imprisoned sorcerer Zeebad (voiced by Tom Baker). Free after centuries, the malevolent Zeebad aims to cast the world into darkness, beginning by encasing the roundabout in ice and trapping little girl Florence (Kylie Minogue). It's up to Dougal and his pals to save the day. Though this is a feature for the very young, there's enough to keep grown-up nostalgia fans happy. The dialogue and comic scenarios still have their knowing undertones, while the slightly beefed-up characters retain their simple charm. Despite a thin plot, the story skips along nicely, bolstered by a sunny pop soundtrack and spot-on voice casting. Bill Nighy's hippy rabbit Dylan is particularly fun, but it's Robbie Williams's cheeky turn as Dougal that's the most pleasant surprise.
To be continued...
