'Kylie - The Exhibition'

An exhibition detailing the style and changing image of pop icon Kylie Minogue opens 8 February at
London's Victoria & Albert Museum.

In 2004 Kylie donated her performance wardrobe to the Arts Centre, Melbourne out of which the exhibition was created.

Outfits are constantly refitted and altered to ensure comfort and a perfect fit while Kylie is performing. She takes up to two hours

Kylie's image and performances have evolved from bubblegum pop to the sexy glamour of a showgirl.

Legend has it that the now iconic gold lame hotpants were discovered at a flea market and cost just 50 pence.
Kylie wore them most memorably in the video for her single "Spinning Around" in 2000.

In a surprise performance with Justin Timberlake for the 2003 Brit Awards, Kylie had a last minute wardrobe panic which was
rectified by a hasty adjustment of Julien Macdonald couture crystal gown.

Kylie's tour outfits are designed to take the audience on a theatrical journey but must be functional for her demanding

Kylie's wardrobe is borne out of a number of collaborations with leading designers such as Helmut Lang,

One venue that Kylie has returned to again and again, since the beginning of her pop career is the nightclub G-A-Y at the
London Astoria. This white silk mini-dress was designed by Antonio Berardi for one such performance in 1995.

Kylie - The Exhibition runs at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London 8 February-10 June 2007. It will then travel to Manchester
Art Gallery and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow.

Kylie Minogue war in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten so erfolgreich, dass das weltbekannte Londoner Victoria&Albert-Museum
ihr eine Ausstellung widmet. "Kylie - The Exhibition" zeigt Bühnenkostüme und Erinnerungsstücke.

Gezeigt wird unter anderem der berühmte weiße Einteiler mit Kapuze, den die nur 1,52 Meter große Sängerin im Video zu
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" trug.

"Kylie - The Exhibition" zeigt hauptsächlich Bühnenkostüme, aber auch andere signifikante Erinnerungsstücke aus ihrer Karriere.
Darunter befinden sich auch die Latzhose, die die Sängerin 1988 in der Serie "Neighbours" trug...

...und ein Einteiler im Leopardenprint, den sie kürzlich bei ihrer Comeback-Tour auf der Bühne getragen hatte.

Ein Großteil der Kostüme, die zumeist die Kleidergröße 34 haben, stammt aus dem Privatbesitz der 38-Jährigen.

Das renommierte Museum musste wegen der Ausstellung über einen Popstar jedoch bereits Kritiker-Häme einstecken...

..."Wir haben schon viele Ausstellungen über zeitgenössische Kultur, Mode und Design gemacht.
'Kylie' bringt das alles zusammen" wies Kuratorin Vickie Broackes die Vorwürfe zurück.

Erklärtes Ziel sei es, auch jüngere Besucher ins Museum zu locken.

Der Großteil der Kostüme war 2005 bereits in der australischen Hauptstadt Melbourne zu sehen, mit mehr als 500.000 Besuchern
war dies eine der meistbesuchten Ausstellungen in der Geschichte Australiens.
